Caminos en Salud Conference

Pathways in Healthcare

Program Overview

Caminos en Salud (Pathways in Healthcare) Conference, hosted by the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) HOPE and HSI-STEM Avanzando programs and supported by the Randolph Newman Cultural Enrichment Endowment (RNCEE) Grant, is a one-day event designed to connect students with healthcare professionals, educators, and community leaders.

This conference creates space for meaningful conversations around equity, representation, and culturally responsive care in healthcare. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, students will gain insight into healthcare careers, build connections with professionals, and explore pathways to achieve their academic and career goals.

Keynote Presentation

Penny Tovar, RN, is a registered nurse, educator, and digital creator who uses her platform to uplift conversations around healthcare, identity, and community. As a first-generation Mexican American and mother, she brings a powerful perspective on resilience, representation, and culturally responsive care, inspiring others to pursue meaningful paths in healthcare.

 

 

Student Research Poster Presentation

SRJC Students of all disciplines will have the opportunity to showcase their research and projects during the conference.

Community & Campus Resource Fair

Students, staff, and community members will have the opportunity to connect with organizations, programs, and services that support their educational and career journeys.

Healthcare Panel and hR Panel Discussions

Students, staff, and community members will hear from a diverse group of healthcare professionals across specialties who will share real experiences, challenges, and advice for navigating the healthcare pathway.

Social Hour

Students, staff, and community members will be provided free lunch from Tlahco, aguas frescas, and live music from a local band, La Agencia!

 

  

 

Participants

This event is open to all students interested in healthcare careers. Students involved in the HOPE and Avanzando programs will receive priority registration.

Participants include healthcare professionals, educators, community organizations, and campus partners committed to supporting the next generation of diverse healthcare leaders.

Please note: Speaking sessions will have limited capacity and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
